MEXICO CITY LIVING GUIDE

We’ve rated every city we’ve lived in over the last few years and created a rating scale based on these 5 factors. It's just my opinion, but I hope you find it helpful in evaluating where to go for your next long-stay trip!

 Food
Amazingly delicious and countless options as you could see from my posts, but you do unfortunately have the propensity to get sick if you’re not used to it.

● Work Life
This includes a great WiFi connection and access to co-working spaces. The food in CDMX is so reasonable that you can eat out more and don’t have to cut your workday short to cook dinner.

● Cultural Feel
General bucket for all the fun travel stuff like shopping (concept shopping is my personal fave), sightseeing and interaction with the locals.

● Cost of Living
Mexico was the lowest cost of living of any of our long-stay cities. Our Airbnb was super nice and spacious for the money, the food was very affordable compared to American standards and the best part was the Uber rides you’ll need to take to get around are around $2 a ride. Can’t beat it!

● Overall Livability
This all relates to the “quality of life” factor- how easy it is to assimilate, language barriers if you only speak English, transportation without a car and overall safety level. The safety factor is a big one for me and why I rated less here- while we personally did not run into any bad situations during our stay, the standard is just so much lower than we’re comfortable with and that was an adjustment for living vs vacation. Overall, the city is pretty safe when you’re staying in the right neighborhoods and have some street smarts!
